In collaboration with Tea Creek Farm, local First Nations are providing food sovereignty, essential skills and trades introduction training to its members. The COVID pandemic brought forward the importance of food sovereignty and furthering self- reliance on community based food production and agriculture.
Paticipants will gain hands-on experience in harvesting, field crops, agriculture machinery, and pre-trade experience. This training will prepare participants for future employment in the local food production and community based harvesting currently being developed. Online curriculum will be delivered in addition to opportunities to gain applied work experience in the 4 seasons of agricultural land management at both Tea Creek Farm as well as the lands selected by participating communities. Additionally, the participants will be supported with Essential Life Skills and Employment Bridging Training.
