Introduction to Agriculture

Our July 2021 graduates had training primarily focussed on an introduction to agriculture and supporting trades and skills. Everyone was introduced to and received training in the following:

  • Introduction to Agriculture

  • Introduction to Indigenous Crops

  • Soil, Soil Health, and Basic Soil Testing

  • Tractor and Backhoe Pre-Inspection and Safety

  • Horticulture Introduction

  • Greenhouse Seeding, Propagation, and Transplanting

  • Field Seeding and Transplanting (paper pot and seedlings)

  • Composting, Plant Nutrition, and Amendments

  • Bed Creation and Bed flipping

  • Weed Control Methods

  • Hand Harvesting

  • Product Washing and Packaging

  • Introduction to Fruit Trees and Orchards

  • Introduction to Regenerative Ag, including Chickens

  • Introduction to Mechanics

  • Introduction to Plumbing and Irrigation

  • ATV safety and operation

Some Graduates also achieved:

  • Introduction to Carpentry and Tool Safety

  • Competency in Machine Operation

  • Chainsaw Safety and Operation
